Graduate Students

Sandhiya Thiagarajan

Sandhiya Thiagarajan

Sandhiya Thiagarajan joined Dr. Koh's Lab in Spring 2020. She is a passionate chemical engineer, and her research work focuses on the behavior of different materials in the presence of magnetic fields. Traveling has always been her passion and exploring the world about different materials is her constant hobby.  She is an active member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers-Student chapter and also a recipient of Acharya P C Ray Award 2019.  She is also a perfervid Mime artist.
Elizabeth Bury

Elizabeth Bury

Elizabeth Bury has been a member of Dr. Koh’s Lab since Fall 2018. In December 2020, she graduated magna cum laude from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. During her time as an undergraduate, Elizabeth was involved in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Omega Chi Epsilon, and Phi Eta Sigma. For her research as an undergraduate in the Koh Lab, she has received the Future Leaders in Chemical Engineering Symposium Award in 2020, the 2020 Alexander Stanton Memorial Undergraduate Research Award, the 2020 Randall Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award, and was selected as a finalist in 2019 and 2020 for the Society of Women Engineers collegiate undergraduate research competitions. In Spring 2021, she returned to the Koh Lab as a graduate student. Her research primarily focuses on utilizing liquid metal and polymeric materials to develop novel soft and stretchable electronic materials.
Anh Hoang

Anh Hoang

Anh Hoang began working in Dr. Koh's lab in August 2022. Anh received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from the University of Mississippi. After graduation, Anh planned to shift her focus from theoretical scientific research to a multidisciplinary curriculum with a greater emphasis on practical application. As a result, she became a graduate student in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University of Alabama. Her research focuses on the properties of liquid metal to create soft and deformable electronics. Outside of the lab, Anh works as a freelance graphic designer.
Emmanual Johnson

Emmanual Johnson

Emmanual Johnson joined Dr. Koh’s Lab in Spring 2023. Emmanual gradated from the University of Alabama with his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. As an undergraduate, he was involved with many organizations including the National Society of Black Engineers and 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Outside of the lab, Emmanual enjoys playing tennis and engaging in hobbyist computer science.
